Handed down from my mother. This is a great salad for onion lovers and even those who don't care much for onions. I always get requests for this recipe. I prefer served at room temperature, but it holds well in the fridge a couple of days. Goes with any meal.
Ingredients | Spring Onion Vs Onion Nutrition½ cup white vinegar½ cup water¾ cup white sugar6 Spanish onions, thinly sliced¾ cup mayonnaise1 tablespoon celery seedsalt and ground black pepper to tasteDirectionsCombine vinegar and water in a large bowl. Whisk sugar into the vinegar mixture until dissolved. Add onion slices and marinate at least 3 hours; drain.Whisk mayonnaise, celery seed, salt, and pepper together in a separate bowl; add to drained onion slices and fold to coat.
